What is the difference between a portable and a modular trade show display?

The main difference is the balance of convenience and customization:

Portable Displays (like pop-ups and banner stands) are designed for maximum speed and simplicity. They are typically single, self-contained units that are extremely lightweight and can be set up by one person in minutes.
 
Modular Displays are more like a professional building set. They use a system of reconfigurable frames and parts to create more customized and scalable layouts, allowing you to adapt a 10x10 booth into a 10x20, for example.
How portable are these displays? Can I travel with them?

Extremely portable! That is their primary advantage. A banner stand comes in a small shoulder bag. A full 10-foot pop-up or fabric display packs down into a single wheeled case that is designed for shipping via UPS/FedEx and can often be checked as airline luggage.

Do I need professional labor (I&D) to set up a portable display? No. Portable and most modular displays are specifically designed for tool-free, intuitive setup that you can do yourself. A simple banner stand takes less than a minute, and a full 10-foot backwall can be set up by one person in about 15-20 minutes, saving you hundreds or thousands of dollars in union labor costs at the convention center.
Can I order new graphics for my existing trade show display hardware?

Yes, absolutely. This is a major benefit of investing in quality hardware. As your marketing message changes or your brand evolves, you can simply order a new set of graphics for your existing frame. This is a very cost-effective way to refresh your presence without buying a whole new display.

When should I choose a portable display versus a custom exhibit rental?
